Video Trimmer — free online tool
Enter a start point and an end point, and Vidlora extracts that section of your video without re-encoding it. Trimming is therefore very fast and the quality stays strictly identical to the original. Ideal for keeping the best moment of a recording or cutting off an unneeded intro.

How it works
Trimming by stream copy
The trimmer uses stream copy: the video and audio data are copied as they are into a new file, with no decoding or re-encoding. This explains two properties: speed, because processing barely depends on the video's length, and a total absence of loss, because the bitrate, resolution and codec stay exactly those of the original. The resulting file also keeps the same format as the one you uploaded.
The keyframe catch
In a compressed video, only certain frames, called keyframes, contain a complete picture; the others only describe the changes. Without re-encoding, a cut can only start cleanly on a keyframe. The tool therefore snaps your start point to the nearest keyframe, which usually causes an offset of a fraction of a second, sometimes up to several seconds if the video has few keyframes. For frame-accurate cutting, you would need editing software that re-encodes.
How to proceed
Upload your file, enter the start time and end time of the section to keep, then start processing. One continuous range is cut per operation. To get several clips from the same video, run the tool as many times as needed, starting from the original file each time. Check the result by playing it before deleting the original: if the start is too early or too late, adjust your values slightly and try again.
Practical use cases
Remove the setup seconds at the start of a meeting recording, isolate a sequence from a filmed match to share it, keep the final sketch of a recorded show, or shorten a clip before sending it in a messaging app. Lossless trimming is especially useful for long recordings: a file of several gigabytes is cut in a fraction of the time re-encoding would need, and with no extra degradation.
Compatibility and formats
The trimmer accepts MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI. Because the streams are not transformed, the output container matches the one you uploaded: a MOV stays a MOV, a WebM stays a WebM. If you need a different container, for example an MP4 for an older phone, run the result through the video converter afterwards. The audio is kept with the video in the clip, with no special setting.
Common problems
If the clip starts with a frozen frame or a short black section, it means the cut falls between two keyframes: shift the start slightly. If the resulting duration differs by a few seconds from the one requested, the same cause applies. For a lighter result, follow up with the compressor: trimming alone does not reduce the bitrate, it only removes portions of the video.
Limitations
Cut points snap to keyframes: accuracy is usually a fraction of a second, but can be lower depending on the video. Only one continuous range is extracted per operation. The tool does not edit the picture or the sound, and only MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and AVI are accepted.
Frequently asked questions
Does trimming reduce quality?
No. The data is copied without re-encoding, so the kept portion is identical to the original: same resolution, same bitrate, same codec. Only the exact position of the cut points may vary slightly.
Why doesn't my clip start exactly at the time I entered?
Without re-encoding, the cut has to start on a keyframe. The tool picks the one closest to the time you gave, hence a gap that ranges from a few hundredths of a second to a few seconds depending on the video.
Can I extract several sections at once?
No, one continuous range is cut per operation. For several clips, repeat the operation from the original file, then join them if needed with the video merge tool.
Does the trimmed file keep the same format?
Yes. The output container is that of the video you uploaded, because the streams are simply copied. To change format, use the video converter afterwards.
Is the sound cut too?
Yes, the audio track is cut along with the video over the same range, and stays in sync with the picture. The tool does not let you remove or replace the sound.
How can I get a smaller file after trimming?
The trimmer does not change the bitrate, it only removes parts. Run the result through the video compressor if you want to reduce the size, accepting a slight loss of quality.
